Greenwich Police Investigate Heist By Lone Robber
Greenwich Police are continuing their investigation of the Citibank branch at 453 E. Putnam Ave. in Cos Cob.
The March 22 heist at 4:30 p.m. involved a lone robber "who passed a note demanding cash. He was given the cash, an undetermined amount of money and fled the scene," according to Lt. Kraig Gray. "The bank did not contact police until after the subject had left. Upon receipt of the call, officers flooded the area."
Gray said investigators interviewed witnesses and were "reviewing surveillance tapes. It's an ongoing investigation. Nobody was hurt."
Yesterday's robbery is the second in the area this week. On March 19, a lone robber escaped with a cash bag from the Citizens Bank at 1 Atlantic St. A dye pack exploded, prompting the robber to toss the money from his getaway car.
The Citi Bank robbery is the first since a pair of People's Bank branches—one on Greenwich Avenue, the other on East Putnam Avenue in Riverside—were robbed by an unidentified man in November.
