On Tuesday, Emmy Stocker of the Cos Cob section of Greenwich will compete in the 32nd annual New York Road Runners Empire State Building Run-Up.

The 50-year-old will be trying to beat other runners up 86 floors of stairs at the Big Apple landmark. Around 300 athletes, invited to compete based on their athletic ability and background, are slated to run.

The women's record for the event is 11 minutes, 23 seconds.

A free-lance writer and endurance athlete, Stocker said she races "just for fun," noting it is her sixth time competing in the race."I do a combination of shorter races and the Stairmaster to get ready," she said. "It's all about endurance."
