Rick Torres Opens Bridgeport Headquarters For Congressional Campaign Against Cos Cob Resident Jim Himes

Republican Rick Torres Is Surrounded By

Supporters At The Campaign Headquarters Opening.

Rick Torres, a Republican candidate for the U.S. Congress, has opened a campaign headquarters at 2986 Fairfield Ave. in Bridgeport.

Torres, joined by supporters at the official opening, said the headquarters marks the beginning of a new stage for his campaign.

"The opening of this office demonstrates how serious I am about beating Jim Himes in November,” said Torres, who lives in Black Rock and owns the Harborview Market in the neighborhood.

“Bridgeport will be the battleground this election just as it has always been, and I am the only Republican candidate who is a native of Bridgeport with a natural base of support here,” he said.

Another Republican candidate in the race, former state Sen. Rob Russo, also lives in Bridgeport. There are six GOP candidates hoping to challenge freshman Democratic U.S. Rep. Jim Himes in the fall.

Torres is a former city Republican Town Committee chairman who was the party’s unsuccessful nominee for mayor in 2003.
